So what has changed since we last consulted in 2024?

The proposed boundary for the Glyndŵr National Park has been updated following a review in 2025. We consider that these revisions improve the coherence of the proposed boundary and enhance alignment with statutory designation requirements.

Please see the Final Assessment of Land for Designation Report for full details.

But in short:

  • The Gronant and Talacre Dunes area have been reinstated.
  • The Boundary has been refined to better capture a coherent area of natural beauty focusing on the uplands, intersecting valleys and coastal edge.
  • A large section within Powys have been removed.

The Welsh Government has clarified that if a new National Park is established, it is committed to properly funding it without financially disadvantaging the existing National Parks or the constituent Local Authorities.

Recent developments in agricultural subsidies, Ffermio Bro for example, present new opportunities for farmers within designated landscapes.
