Help us shape NRW's Energy Development Plan
Overview
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is developing a Renewable Energy Development Plan for the NRW-managed estate and a new online Developer Handbook.
The Plan will translate the ambitions set out in NRW's Sustainable Growth and Value Strategy 2027-2031 into a series of priorities, focus areas and actions that will help guide the future development of renewable energy opportunities across the estate.
Here is an early draft of our Energy Development Plan 2027-2031 for your views.
NRW’s Commercial Development Team is developing a new online Developer Handbook to make it easier for developers to understand how NRW works as a land manager, what information we need from developers, and the processes and requirements that may need to be considered as a project progresses.
The questionnaire should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. You can choose which questions to answer and do not need to answer them all.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Renewable Energy Development Plan
The Renewable Energy Development Plan relates specifically to renewable energy projects that have a direct impact on the NRW-managed estate, including projects located on NRW-managed land or requiring access, infrastructure or other land rights across it.
It is not intended to consider renewable energy developments that have no direct interaction with land managed by NRW.
We are keen to understand whether our current thinking captures the right areas for action and delivery, and whether there are any important themes, opportunities or challenges that we should be considering as part of the Energy Development Plan.
You can review our initial thinking and answer a few short questions.
Developer Handbook
The handbook is specifically intended for projects that directly affect the NRW-managed estate, and will initially focus on renewable energy. For example renewable energy developments on the estate or projects requiring land, access, infrastructure or other rights across it. It is not intended to provide general guidance for developments that have no direct impact on land managed by NRW.
In developing the Handbook, we are keen to ensure it provides developers with the information they need when engaging with NRW on an energy development project proposal on the NRW-managed estate.
You can see our initial thinking and answer a few short questions.
