2 Sisters Food Group Limited have submitted an application to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to change its environmental permit for Sandycroft Poultry Processing (permit number EPR/YP3632EM).

This change, termed a ‘variation’, is a legal requirement under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 2016.

We are seeking comments on this application.

Natural Resources Wales is consulting on a variation application submitted by 2 Sisters Food Group Limited for its poultry processing facility.

The application seeks to vary the existing environmental permit to:

• Increase the number of birds processed at the site from 134,000 birds per day to 172,000 birds per day.
• Increase operational days from six days per week to seven days per week.
• Permit the operation of a chiller unit that has been installed on site to replace the previous unit.

Before making a decision on this application, we are inviting comments from interested parties. We will consider all relevant responses received during the consultation period when assessing the application and determining whether the proposed changes can be carried out while continuing to protect people and the environment.

• Monitoring of emissions to the environment to agreed standards
• Control of handling and storage of residual wastes from the process
• Control of handling and storage of raw materials
• Potential impacts on health and the local environment
• Any relevant local factors that you believe 2 Sisters Food Group Limited has not considered in its permit application

Matters we cannot consider comments on include:

• Alternative locations for the site
• Traffic
• Visual impact
• Operational hours
• The transport of waste to and from the site
• Where the poultry stock comes from
• Whether a site should have a formal designation under conservation legislation
• Animal health and welfare
