Acorn Antics 2021

Closes 15 Nov 2021

Opened 13 Sep 2021

Overview

Welcome to the registration page for Acorn Antics 2021!

Here’s a short video to explain the project.

We’re asking education and learning groups to get outside and collect acorns.

Seed collections can be organised by all sorts of education and learning groups such as, schools, Brownies, Scouts or Young Farmers. It gives young people the opportunity to learn about, and connect with, the natural environment in Wales.

People can also get involved by donating acorns to their local group or inviting them to collect acorns from their land.

This year, we are only looking for Sessile Oak acorns.

Settings interested in taking part in Acorn Antics need to register before organising their collection.

We will pay up to £4.40 per kilogram depending on the quality of the acorns.

What will we do with the acorns that you collect?

The acorns will be sent to the Forestry Commission tree nursery in Cheshire where they are grown into saplings before we replant them in Welsh woodlands and forests.

The annual Acorn Antics project helps us plant more trees which have been grown from local seeds.

How should you prepare?
