Consultation on changes to the main river map for Wales

Overview

A main river is a watercourse that is officially marked on the statutory main river map in Wales. While main rivers are usually larger rivers and streams, some smaller watercourses are also included. Other rivers or streams that are not main rivers are classed as ‘ordinary watercourses’.

Natural Resources Wales has responsibility for maintaining and updating the main river map for Wales which can be viewed here: Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk maps. Sometimes, changes may be needed to the main river map. Natural Resources Wales will consult with other Risk Management Authorities and the public before making any changes to the main river map.

You may be affected by a river's designation if you:

• Own land or property bordering a river
• Need to carry out any works in or close to a river

The changes proposed in this consultation are minor; to amend the mapped main river alignment to reflect reality. Through this consultation we are seeking your views on proposed changes to the main river map for Wales in three catchments.

Any person or organisation may object a determination.

Any objection should arrive no later than the stated closing date.

Please quote the map number e.g. Map 4, regarding which map you are commenting on. If you do not quote the map number, we may not be able to consider your comment. Feel free to add additional location descriptions or geographic coordinates if necessary.
