We are seeking views on our draft position statement which sets out how we will meet our duty to keep Area Statements under review.
The draft position statement is available to download as a PDF at the bottom of this page.
We will be holding a webinar between 1100-1200 on Tuesday 7 September to explain the nature of this position statement and answer any questions that you may have. If you would like to attend please email SMNR@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk.
NRW published the first iteration of Area Statements on 31st March 2020 on our website, as a requirement under the Environment (Wales) Act 2016.
Natural Resources Wales / Area Statements
Section 11(6) of the Act specifies that “NRW must keep Area Statements under review and may revise them at any time”.
We are presenting our draft position on how NRW will manage work to keep Area Statements under review.
We are seeking views from stakeholders on how to provide clarity around the status of, and any revisions to Area Statements. This will include the reasons why they may have changed - as and when those changes occur.
We are particularly mindful to the need to keep them in line with any changes to the Natural Resources Policy whilst acknowledging the dynamic and iterative nature of Area Statements working at the Place-based level.
Your views are important to us as we continue to work together through the Area Statement process.
We will consider all responses to the consultation questions as well as any other comments that stakeholders provide. A final position statement is due to be published by the end of 2021.
A webinar to explain the nature of this position statement. Come along and find out more before providing your views through this survey. The webinar will take place over Microsoft Teams.
