Westend (please scroll down for information on Llanbradach)
Felling operations are being carried out within this woodland to remove larch trees that are infected with Phytophthora ramorum.
In February, our contractors began work in the northern area (marked on the map below) and are working their way south.
The work has currently been paused due to nesting birds and will resume at the end of bird breeding season.
Public access
Footpaths and Public Rights of Way in the Westend will remain open to the public, but to ensure your safety and that of our contractors, please make sure you obey any diversions or operational signage that’s in place.

Replanting
Once all the diseased larch has been removed, we plan to replant trees in the affected areas. This will include a diverse mix of species to help ensure our woodlands are more resilient to pests and disease in the future.

Llanbradach
The felling operations to remove larch trees that are infected with Phytophthora ramorum in this woodland are now nearing completion.
Our contractors are currently carrying out work to winch the remaining trees from the slopes above Colliery road and then replanting work will begin.
For your safety, please make sure you adhere to any signage or track diversions that may be in place.
Public access
Whilst we do not like to close off access to our forests and woodlands, which are enjoyed by many, unfortunately, we are currently unable to open the footpaths at Llanbradach due to health and safety issues and the site remains closed for now.
