North Wales Eel Pass Programme

Natural Resources Wales gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the Pont Y Capel Hydrometric weir on Afon Alyn  near Llay, Wrexham, NGR SJ 33526 54047.

The proposed improvement works will involve the following: Construction of an Eel pass over the gauging weir and provision of access steps to inspect and maintain the new eel pass . The proposed development does not exceed the applicable threshold /criteria within Column 2 of Schedule 2 of the EIA Regulations in relation to category 10(h) development. The proposed development does not fall within a ‘sensitive area’ as defined by the EIA Regulations.  The proposed development therefore does not require screening under the EIA Regulations.

Natural Resources Wales considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them.Environmental Report comprising an Environmental Action Plan (EAP) has been produced for this site, summarising actions required to implement the environmental mitigation and outcomes in relation to the design, construction, operation of the proposed works.  It also identifies roles and responsibilities of those involved in the project and refers to all temporary and permanent works.
