Natural Resources Wales gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to Hydrometric weirs on Afon Clywedog Bowling Bank near Wrexham, NGR SJ39574 48244; Afon Erch Pencaenewydd, NGR SH 40001 40337; Afon Seiont Peblic Mill, NGR SH 49453 62281 and Afon Llyfni Pont Y Cim NGR SH 44020 52353.
The proposed improvement works will involve the following: Construction of Eel passes over the gauging weirs as named above and construction of access steps to enable inspection and maintenance of these Eel passes. The proposed development does not exceed the applicable threshold /criteria within Column 2 of Schedule 2 of the EIA Regulations in relation to category 10(h) development. The proposed development does not fall within a ‘sensitive area’ as defined by the EIA Regulations. The proposed development therefore does not require screening under the EIA Regulations.
Natural Resources Wales considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. This was confirmed by both Wrexham CBC and Gwynedd Council. An Environmental Report comprising an Environmental Action Plan (EAP) has been produced for each site, summarising actions required to implement the environmental mitigation and outcomes in relation to the design, construction, operation of the proposed works. It also identifies roles and responsibilities of those involved in the project and refers to all temporary and permanent works.
