ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT (Regulation 12B of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) SI1999/1783 as amended)

Minera Mine Complex – Flow Gauging Structures installation.

Natural Resources Wales gives notice that it proposes to install flow gauging structures at the following sites in the Minera mine complex, west of Coedpoeth Wrexham:

Park Day Level: Repair of existing weir plate and installation of small footbridge at NGR SJ2712951626.

Deep Day Level: Installation of one flow gauging structure (flume) at NGR SJ 287925020

Stryt Y Sgweiar: Replacement of culvert and installation of one flow gauging structure at NGR SJ2814950511

The flow monitoring structure installation works are required for site discharge monitoring and data collection, to inform the consideration and design of longer term metal mine remediation measures. These proposals form part of the joint Metal Mine programme between NRW and the Mining Remediation Authority.

Natural Resources Wales considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. Although an environmental statement is not proposed, the scheme design has considered environmental factors associated with the site and an Environmental Action Plan (EAP) has been prepared for use during the project.
