NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR ABERAERON COASTAL DEFENCE SCHEME
Notice is hereby given that Ceredigion County Council, Neuadd Cyngor Ceredigion, Penmorfa, Aberaeron, SA46 0PA has applied to Natural Resources Wales (“NRW”) for a marine licence to carry out a regulated activity under the Marine and Coastal Act 2009. The project requires EIA consent and is subject to the requirement for an environmental impact assessment (“EIA”) under the Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007 (“the EIA Regulations”). An environmental statement has been prepared by the applicant.
The application is for a coastal defence scheme in Aberaeron which comprises of five elements. This includes the construction of a new rock breakwater, refurbishment and rebuilding of the pier-head of south Pier, flood wall construction, construction of a flood gate at Pwll Cam inner harbour and improvements to the existing defences on South Beach. The overall size of the project is approx. 4.37 hectares.
