Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 - Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007 - Notice of Application for HYNET CARBON DIOXIDE TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE PROJECT – OFFSHORE
Notice is hereby given that Liverpool Bay CCS Limited has applied to Natural Resources Wales (“NRW”) for a marine licence to carry out a regulated activity under the Marine and Coastal Act 2009. The project requires EIA consent and is subject to the requirement for an environmental impact assessment (“EIA”) under the Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007 (“the EIA Regulations”). An environmental statement has been prepared by the applicant.
The application is for the repurpose the existing Eni offshore assets in Liverpool Bay, which will include the natural gas import pipeline from the Douglas platform to Point of Ayr (PoA) Gas Terminal to become an export pipeline to transport CO2 to a newly constructed Douglas Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) platform. A change to the approach cable route for the the Welsh Channel and across Talacre Beach has been received, and it is out for consultation.
